Has everyone been waiting in anticipation to find out who the new addition to darkroom is? Well, the wait is over… almost! Before the big reveal, let me give you some background. On New Year’s Eve, my fiancĂ© and I sat down and wrote out our resolutions for 2012. We do this every year, but for some reason I felt that this year was different. Maybe because this is the year we’re getting married, maybe because I have so many things that I want to do this year, or maybe because I feel like this is going to be a great year! I really don’t know, but I was inspired and excited to write out my resolutions. I actually felt like, “You know what, I’m going to accomplish every single resolution this year!”
Of course, every year I strive to eat healthier, work out, have abs of steel -- which no matter how many crunches I do, it does not work! So, maybe this resolution won’t get fulfilled, but – hey, whatever, I’m going to try!
I set out some goals for my photography. Some will be challenging, but I believe in myself and know that I can and will do it – No pressure! I decided that this year I’m going to push myself with my photography. Not only to put myself out there but to get better at my craft. As one of my goals, I decided to take on a photography project. This project is pretty special because I get to bring on a new member to darkroom. Sometimes I go out and navigate the City and find that I get bored shooting the same scenery. Yes, I could ask friends to sit for me, but everyone is busy. So, I sat and thought about it - who could be my subject?
While thinking about my subject, I started working on my logo. I thought about what I wanted darkroom to look like, why was I doing photography, what was my purpose?!? Then, I came across this great graphic designer and - BAM! - it hit me! I knew who my partner in crime was going to be and what my purpose was. No, it’s not the graphic designer! Looking at all of the designs this graphic designer had, it inspired me. It’s like my subject was looking at me right in my face. So I ran with my ideas, and the hunt was on looking for him. After a relentless but endless search, he was right in front of me once again! So close that I felt it was a sign that us working together was meant to be. J
For my photography project, I wanted a subject that could go with me everywhere that I went – a subject that isn’t camera shy and doesn’t get tired after taking lots of pictures.
So, ok already, who is this mystery subject?!?
Drum roll please...
Everyone, I would like to introduce you to Hootie! Hootie is a special little guy. He’s little and blue and has big hypnotizing eyes. He loves to travel, meet new people, enjoys the outdoors, and loves a good bow-tie!
Meet Hootie
Hootie is the newest member to the darkroom team and will have his own series. It’s going to be called “The Chronicles of Hootie”. Why “The Chronicles?” Well because Hootie will go wherever I go. Hootie is going to be my roadie! I will chronicle all the places that Hootie goes to. I’ll even be chronicling all the cool people that he meets along the way! If there is a spot worthy to take a picture at, Hootie will be there to strut his stuff! I’m very excited about this new series. It is exactly what I wanted my photography project to be. So keep an eye out for Hootie’s series! You never know, he may just make an appearance at your next photo shoot! J What a Hoot that will be!
‘Til next time!
